Beach shack, restaurant from heaven and general rockstar experience.

Maria Does Delicious Top tip on Amalfi Coast.

This golden memory of a long lunch was at Conca Del Sogno. One of my favourite places in Italy, nay the world, to spend an afternoon in sybaritic pleasure. This particular lunch: Spaghetti alle Vongole, crisp white Fiano white wine and a tomato salad of gods.

We went back the very next day for lunch and did it all over again. We would have gone again for dinner. It is that good.

It's relaxed, delicious and a beach club at its best. After lunch, you can retire to one of the deck chairs for the afternoon or dive off the platforms into the bluest beautiful Amalfi waters.

Apparently in August its a bit of a super yacht scene (Beyonce rocking Zimmerman), but you can understand why. It's so good. Another reason to avoid August if you ask me....End of June was a pleasantly full day of dreams.

What we ate:

* Spaghetti alle vongole (best of my life)

* Courgette gnocchi (also up there)- Courgette seems to be a bit of speciality of this particular part of the Amalfi Coast. See my post on Nerano also for more courgette love.

* We also tried the Sea bass baked in a salt crust. It was delicious but being from New Zealand (and spoilt for seafood), I am always a little suspicious of Mediterranean fish. It was of course wonderfully cooked with incredible olive oil and a lot of amore but not cheap.

* Gnocchi Vongole

* Grilled vegetables

* Tomato Salad of the gods (Basil, Olive oil and salt- the holy trio).

Gnocchi vongole.

Mr Delicious and I drank an incredible bottle of wine, a Fiano (variety from this region) called Pian de Stio which could not have gone better with the food and then sank into one of the deck chairs overlooking the ocean with some watermelon and an espresso.

Literal bliss.

Go go go if you ever get the chance. This is a death row dining experience for me.

How to get there:

Reached by boat you feel and eat like a rockstar. You can walk in but it is a bit of an awkward walk about 10/15 mins from the road and a bit off the google maps usual path.

We came by Water taxi from the nearest town (which is a little town called Marina del Cantone (just around the headland). There are lots of water taxis that will take you around or if you want to come from Positano or other towns you can also arrive by boat.

Lucibello is the company we used (coming from Positano for day 2!) and I cant rate them highly enough.

Boat hire./Water taxis

Lucibello- great place to hire boats and they will take you with driver or without. Fabulous.

About Maria does Delicious.

This site was born when I was living in Italy. It was just me wanting to record all the places I loved, delicious things tasted or cooked and experiences had -and it literally started as an email list.

 The first was 'A guide for Roma: Maria style'. It was a combination of tips from my Roman friends, a Roman ex-boyfriend, my old boss (total foodie from Naples), a few obsessed foodies and me!

 I passed it on to a friend, who passed it on to another, and then I soon was getting requests from all over the world for other tips from "people like us (PLU's)" who wanted to know where to go, eat, stay, shop and most importantly dine!....So Maria does Delicious was born!
